How Make Your Personal Statement Seem Like Reading a Favorite Book
After all those hours, days, or even weeks you spent working on your personal statement for your application, you would, of course, want your intended readers to really read your personal statement to the end. But you have to do your share in making your personal statement worth the read. Let your personal statement engage them like their favorite books do. Here are tips on how to do that.
Capture the readers’ attention right from the start
Attract your reader from your first few words and hook them up right away. Make your reader interested in what you have to say and anticipate the next lines. There are two aspects that you have to focus on: what you write and how you write it.
Let them see the world through your own eyes
Like your favorite book?s author, you must be able to effectively communicate what you see and feel through writing. If you choose to write about your favorite pet, let them “see” and “experience” what it?s like having a pet like yours.
Appeal to their emotions
One way to make your readers remember your personal statement against all other personal statements they?ve read is by making them remember you by heart. Studies show that emotions are harder to forget than facts, so if you want your readers to remember you, you can try making a personal statement that can touch their hearts. Describe yourself through interesting topics that are not overrated. You can also choose to write about an event or person who inspired you to choose a particular course or pursue a particular career path.
