As with other fields, you can specialize in a specific area of study when you choose your MBA program. Specialized MBA programs focus on areas such as Accounting and Business.  Your chosen specialization will depend on the career path you want to pursue.  You may also consider your college degree, if it is somehow related to the specialization you prefer.

Accounting

A specialization in accounting is practical because all companies have accounting departments. Your MBA program will focus on accounting topics such as auditing, real estate, and taxation. This specialization is recommended if you plan on becoming any of the following: accounting information systems manager, auditor, consultant, controller, or corporate accounting manager.

Finance

You can jumpstart a career in finance with an MBA program focusing on investment, financial strategies, management, and the ethical issues involved. You can be employed as a manager or as a financial analyst. You will also be qualified for careers dealing with financial assessment or analysis.

International Business

If you are seeking to widen your horizons, international business may be the specialization for you.  This is similar to finance, but with the added cultural know-how that will enable you to work with people from other countries.

Marketing

If your interest is in selling a product, or even a whole brand, choose an MBA program that majors in marketing. This way, you’ll know how to communicate better to make that all-important sale. To sell, you need  to understand concepts behind research and psychology. Through a specialization in Marketing, you’ll learn such concepts to better understand your market. The marketing hierarchy can range from sales or brand managers to top-executive and other managerial positions.

Once you’ve decided…

After picking the right specialization for you, write a specific personal statement for MBA. This means that your personal statement for MBA must emphasize your reasons for choosing the specialization.  Make sure that your personal statement for MBA discusses unique points about you without sacrificing clarity and cohesiveness.
